Hurricane Preparation Guide

This site is intended for members of the Pentecostals of Mandeville. In the event of a major storm, this site will be active for members to quickly get information about evacuation and other members.

POM Evacuation Plan

Official POM/POLR Evacuation Plan

The Pentecostals of Mandeville facility located at 625 Lotus Drive North is NOT a safe enough building during a major storm to be designated as a shelter.  Our plan is to evacuate this area.

LA District UPC Campgrounds is our official evacuation site. (Tioga LA)
We have approximately 30 beds for males in the boys dorm and
30 beds for females in the girls dorm.  We are also attempting to secure other dorms on the campgrounds.

Pastor Paul Trentacoste is the official contact person for this location. If you evacuate to another location, please log into the web site and post your information.  The link is at the bottom of this page.  Your can leave information at the campground (318-640-9657) for pastor and staff.  Other contact information will we available when you log in.

Be Prepared

Important questions to ask yourself as you begin to prepare:

Please keep the discussion board updated if you decide to leave.

How long before landfall will you leave?  Traffic is the big consideration here.  It is highly recommended that you leave before the traffic gets so bad that you will be on the road for an extended period of time.  As a consideration, the state of Louisiana is planning to open the contra-flow sometime Sunday morning.  In any event, it would be best to avoid being trapped in heavy tracffic while the storm is making landfall.

Where do you plan to go?  Make reservations early and try to go north.  A hurricane can turn at the last minute and impact other areas along the gulf.

What will be your path?  Plan for alternates.  Avoid interstates if possible.

Do you have enough food/fuel/supplies to make the trip if you get stranded somewhere?

If you have small children, stock up on diapers and baby food.

What will you do with your pets?

If staying, keep fuel cans full for generators.

Keep your vehicles full of fuel.

Make sure your vehicle is in good condition early this week.  Perform any necessary maintenance.

It is very important to discuss these items with your immediate family, extended family, and anyone that you may be evacuating with.  Know where you are going and the path you will take well in advance.  The more decisions you have to make at the last minute, the more stressful the event will be.
